About Us

Mark Olalde is a rising senior attending the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. On campus he created/edited/reported for NU Intel's sports desk, wrote features for North by Northwestern, and learned investigative reporting under Pulitzer Prize winners Rick Tulsky and John Sullivan at the Medill Watchdog. For the past three months, Mark reported at The Star newspaper in Johannesburg, South Africa, covering drug operations and gang culture. While in Joburg, he realized he's a danger junky.

Fritz Burgher is also a rising senior at Northwestern University majoring in journalism and minoring in political science. During the winter quarter, he reported on Capitol Hill for the Medill News Service covering the Supreme Court, congressional hearings and the inauguration. Fritz has worked at The Daily Northwestern and at NU Intel in addition to mentoring inner-city high schoolers through Medill Media Teens. Fritz’s long time passion for journalism and politics stems from his roots in the Amana Colonies in eastern Iowa and his broadcasting role model, Peter Jennings.

We have worked together since stepping foot on campus freshman year when we arrived as new trumpet players in the Northwestern University Marching Band. Last year, we started NU Intel's new sports desk, "The Post." And now we're excited to share our latest adventure with you.
